As a mom of two young school age kids MEGA is a brand that I am very familiar with. I can remember buying Mega Bloks for my son’s first birthday and he played with those things forever! We actually still have them in the nice and neat container that they came in passed on to Aubrey so she can enjoy hours of entertainment like her big brother.
Aubrey recently got the chance to help me review Mega Bloks Thomas and Friends Busy Day at the Quarry. She loves Thomas and building with her Mega Bloks so this was a match made in heaven for her.

As a mom one of the things I like most about Mega Bloks is the containers that they come in. Most of the time they double as not only as storage for your bloks but also as a platform for playing. The Busy Day at the Quarry comes with 49 pieces including a real-working crane which was a big it with both of my kids. The first time we set up the Quarry it was just Aubrey and I. She is just 3 so she needed some help building the ramps and setting up the coal chute. Other than that I was very impressed at how well she was able to connect the trains and other pieces together. The blocks are larger which make it much easier for little hands.
Aubrey and I had such a fun time building the Quarry and she even continued to play by herself for a good 20 minutes which is amazing for her. She often has a hard time doing anything by herself so this really impressed me. When Jeremy got home from school and saw Thomas and the Quarry he was ready to start playing with it himself. He was actually able to build the entire thing without any help from me.
It was really nice to see both of the kids working together while they played with Thomas and the Quarry. I love the fact that this set comes with 3 trains so each of the kids has a chance to go down the track. Thomas still was the favorite so they had to take turns with him.
There is so much that you can do with this building set after it is set up. It’s like a little town where the trains can load and unload the coal and go up and down the tracks.
Here is a very short video of Jeremy using the coal chute and filling up the train with coal. I apologize for the bad lighting I used my camera and didn’t realize it was so dark until after I uploaded it.
This is a really fun addition to the Mega Bloks family and my kids had really had a great time building and playing with Thomas and Friends Busy Day at the Quarry. We have had the set now for about a week and it has been played with almost everyday! I even had to bring down the old train table from the attic because it sparked such an interest. Great toy and our family gives it a great big thumbs up!
Buy It: You can purchase the Mega Bloks Thomas and Friends Busy Day at the Quarry for $29.99. This is just one of the many sets in the Thomas and Friends Mega Bloks sets.
