Yesterday I got the chance to participate in a phone interview with CJ Adams who plays Timothy Green in the new film “The Odd Life of Timothy Green“. CJ is super adorable and was very sweet, polite and throughout the interview I just kept thinking to myself that is parents must be so proud that they raised such a bright kid. Below is the movie trailer of The Odd Life of Timothy Green which shows CJ Adams playing Timothy Green.
#1. What was your favorite part about playing the character Timothy Green?
CJ-Probably my favorite part of playing the character Timothy Green was just being such a sweet boy and I liked playing someone who was different and unique. That’s what I loved about being Timothy.
#2. Could you relate to anything that Timothy Green experienced and if so can you give an example?
CJ- Me and Timothy are very truthful, I wouldn’t lie about anything. But the best thing is that Timothy treats everyone the same no matter how they act and that’s what I would do. If I had a bully at school and he was mean to me I would be nice to him, and that’s how I think that me and Timothy are alike.
#3. When working with some of the adult actors on the film like Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton I was wondering whether you learned anything valuable from them or they gave any good advice?
CJ-What I learned from Jennifer and Joel was they told be to become the character like make your Timothy by putting all of those personalities together and become him. Like putting your mind into his head.
#4. In the movie of all the qualities that your parents wished that you had what was your favorite quality that your character had and why?
CJ-Having a good heart because what’s most important is treating people the way you want them to treat you. That’s what I thought was most important.
#5. What do you think grownups could learn from Timothy Green?
CJ-You should always take care of your kids and have their back instead of being on their case.
#6. What was the hardest thing about making this movie?
CJ- The hardest part for me was having to fit in school and the movie at the same time because you had to keep going back and forth and rushing all the time.
#7. How did you prepare yourself to play Timothy Green?
CJ-The way I prepared myself to play Timothy Green was I learned all these personalities by reading the script and I crafted my Timothy by putting all those personalities together and then I became that Timothy.
#8. Besides The Odd Life of Timothy Green what is one of your favorite movies?
CJ-Probably my favorite besides The Odd Life of Timothy Green is the Avengers. Because I thought it was so well done and I like super heroes.
#9. What’s your Favorite Avenger?
CJ-Probably the bad guy because he can duplicate himself.
#10. In the movie you played soccer, and I was wondering if that is a sport that you normally play or what other types of sports do you like to play?
CJ-Yes soccer is my main sport. If I had to pick one sport to play for the rest of my life it would be soccer because I love soccer.
#11. Did being apart of this movie affected or enhance your relationship with your parents given the nature of this film?
CJ-It actually didn’t because every family is different in their own unique kind of loving way.
#12. Your first movie was when you were 6 and you played a character in Dan in Real Life. Have you always wanted to act and how to did you get into acting?
CJ-I never really always wanted to act it just came on sudden. There was this free for all tryout for Dan in Real Life and I was kinda like why not try out just for fun and I got the part as young Elliot Burns. Peter Hedges was the director for that movie and he was casting for another movie and I tried out for that and I got the part. So now I am trying to do more movies now that I’m in the business.
#13. One of the scenes in the movie that kind of stands out to people is where your muddy and covered in dirt. I was just wondering what that was like for you and if it was fun filming those scenes?
CJ-You know every kid wants to get dirty and stuff but actually it wasn’t that fun for me because we were filming in a 32 degree garage and they kept spraying me with water so the mud would stay moist and wouldn’t get all dry. It was so uncomfortable.
#14. What do you love most about acting?
CJ-What I like most about acting is playing around and becoming another guy or making funny voices if I have to. That’s just fun for me.
A Big Thank you to CJ Adams and congratulations on the film!
