School just started a week ago and my daughter has already started to complain of not feeling well. She doesn’t normally go to the nurse’s office at school so when I got a call saying that she wasn’t feeling well, I knew that something was up. Unfortunately getting her into see her normal pediatrician on such notice, can sometimes be a hassle. Like most doctors offices, they are overbooked and trying to wiggle in another appointment isn’t always possible. Those are the times we end up using the urgent care which is not only a huge hassle but it’s expensive.
Recently I learned about a service called Doctor on Demand which allows you to see a doctor without ever having to leave your home. It’s super easy to use and the best part is that it’s convenient and costs about as much as the average co-pay. Some of the common back to school issues that Doctor on Demand treat are cold, cough, sore throat, flu, skin issues, rashes, pink-eye, vomiting and diarrhea.
How to get Started Using Doctor On Demand
The first thing you need to do is download the Doctor on Demand app and sign up for a free account. When you sign up they will ask you a few questions like what is your address and preferred pharmacy. Next you add in the Code MOMLUCK to get your first visit for free.
After you have your account set up, your ready to be seen. We signed up and were able to see a doctor in about 15 minutes. There was a short wait time waiting on the doctor but it was less than 10 minutes. The app will tell you what number you are in line.
Once you’re connected with the doctor he or she will appear on the screen where they will also be able to see you. Here you can discuss your issues and the doctor can walk you through the steps of getting a diagnosis. Aubrey was suffering from allergies and a virus. The doctor came to this conclusion after talking to us, going over our symptoms and having me perform some easy tests like feeling her neck and having her cough. After about 5 minutes we were done and had a prescription waiting for us at our local pharmacy!
How Much does Doctor On Demand Cost?
Medical visits for Adults and Pediatrics are $40 for each visit. This price includes the video visit with your doctor. There are no hidden fee’s or subscription costs. $40 is it! Other services including Psychologist visits cost $50 for a 25 minute session and $95 for a $50 minute session. And they also offer Lactation Consulting for a fee of $40 for a 25 minute session.
If you want to try out the Doctor on Demand Service, now is your chance because by using the code MOMLUCK your first visit will be free.
I am extremely impressed with Doctor on Demand. It’s such a valuable service to everyone especially busy parents. On those days when your child is sick but you can’t take off work to go to the doctor or when you are sick and can’t get out of bed. I have a feeling we will be using Doctor on Demand a lot over this school year. For more information visit Doctor on Demand online.
