This October will mark the second anniversary of my dad’s passing. It’s crazy to think that it’s already been two years. It seems like just yesterday he was sitting on the couch, watching his favorite western movies. After two long years, my mom recently decided that it was time to start letting go of some of his stuff. This was a really hard decision for her because even though he’s been gone awhile, there’s still guilt about getting rid of his things.
Over the years my dad accumulated quite the collection of clothing including dozens of t-shirts. My parents loved to travel and every place they’d go he would buy a new t-shirt. These shirts are just old ragged clothing to some people but to my mom, they are priceless memories. Throwing them away or even donating them, wasn’t really an option. So with the help of Project Repat I helped preserve these t-shirts for years to come with a custom t-shirt quilt.
What is Project Repat
Repat is short for repatriating textile jobs back to the USA. Project Repat takes old t-shirts and turns them into custom t-shirt quilts. They are one of the least expensive custom t-shirt quilt makers that I have come across. Their prices start at just $74.99.
How To Make a Custom T-Shirt Quilt
Ordering a custom t-shirt quilt from Project Repat is SUPER easy! First you decide which size of quilt you want to make. They have 5 different size custom t-shirt quilts ranging in size from small lap blankets to large King Sized blankets. Next you decide which color of backing you want for your blanket. There are seven different colors: red, royal blue, black, green, purple, gray and light blue. Then your ready to order your blanket. After you pay Project Repat will send you a postage paid envelope with you to send your t-shirts back in. After you mail them off, the blanket will be made and sent back to you in 2-3 weeks.
Our custom t-shirt quilt arrived and I was blown away. This blanket means so much to our family and will for many years. My mom didn’t know that I was going to have my dad’s old t-shirts made into a quilt so when I surprised her with it, she cried. The quilt is soft and snuggly and I can foresee all of my dad’s grandkids snuggling up on the couch with this blanket and always having a part of grandpa close by.
