Silver Dollar City is an 1880’s themed park that is located in Branson, Missouri. This 100 acre park has 30 different rides and attractions, 12 restaurants, 12 stage venues, 60 shops and over 100 different craftsmen. There is so much to see, do and EAT at Silver Dollar City that just one trip is never enough.
The park is unique to any other as it features an actual cave called Marvel Cave that guests can tour all year long. The tour takes about an hour but this is something that I highly recommend. During the tour you will learn all about the cave’s history as you walk through this magnificent wonder. I have always just done a lighted tour but they also offer lantern tours and I would love to do this the next time I visit.
After you visit Marvel Cave there are many more fun things to do.Here are just a few of the thrill rides at Silver Dollar City!
The Giant Barn Swing:
The Swinging Bridge:
The Outlaw Run is the newest attraction at Silver Dollar City. Opening in Spring of 2013 The Outlaw Run has quickly become a favorite among coaster enthusiasts of all kinds. This new $10 million dollar wooden roller coaster sends riders speeding through the Ozark Mountains and will definitely get your adrenaline pumping. My husband and I rode The Outlaw Run twice and honestly I could have gone back and rode it many more times. It was so much fun and easily makes the list of my all time top roller coasters.
Facts About the Outlaw Run:
- The World’s Most Daring wooden roller coaster
- Features the world’s first and only double barrel roll (720 degrees) on a wooden coaster.
- The only wooden coaster to twist upside down three times, with a record breaking 3 inversions.
- The steepest wood coaster!! The first drop is 162 feet (more than 16 stories) at 81 degrees.
- The second fastest wood coaster in the world reaching speeds of 68 miles per hour.
Let’s Talk Food!
At Silver Dollar City be prepared to eat, and eat and maybe eat some more during your time in the park. There is such a variety of food and it’s all made from scratch right there on sight. From Gigantic Cinnamon Rolls, mouth-watering cupcakes, home-made pizza , the famous Sausage Skillet and much more. Let’s just say that your stomach will leave very happy after a day in the park.
For all those germaphobic moms like me, Silver Dollar City has got you covered! With so many people visiting Silver Dollar City every year, they want to make sure that their guests stay healthy and that’s why they provide hand sanitizers throughout the park. This is especially great in the kids play areas where you may not be able to wash your hands right away after playing.
Silver Dollar City hosts several festivals throughout the years but here are the most current ones.
National Harvest Festival (Sept. 12th-October 26th)
An Old Time Christmas (November 2nd-December 30th)
Silver Dollar City is a great place to visit and fun for all ages. That’s one of the reasons my family loves to visit as often as we can. For more information on park hours and ticket prices you can visit http://www.silverdollarcity.com/ for more information.
