Today is a pretty big day in the movie world because the highly anticipated Disney movie Big Hero 6 finally opens in theaters. I got a sneak peek of the film earlier this week when I attended the Red Carpet Hollywood Premiere of Big Hero 6. I sort of had an idea of what the movie would be about but it ended up surprising me on many different levels. I know many of you are planning on seeing Big Hero 6 this weekend with your family (YAY!!) but before you go I have a a few tips for you and 7 Things You Should Know Before You See Big Hero 6.
1. Big Hero 6 is not your typical Disney movie
Sure it has all of the right elements that make a Disney movie great but it also has so much more! There’s action, adventure, and comedy. And true to Disney’s form a Hero and a villain.
2. Boys and Girls are both going to love this movie.
The main characters in this movie are both male and female so everyone will be able to relate to one character or another. In this movie all of the characters do their part to defeat the villain. The girls Go-Go and HoneyLemon are especially awesome!
3. Bring Tissues
Fair Warning. There are a few tear-jerking moments and if your anything like me then you’ll need a tissue or two.
4. STAY UNTIL THE END OF THE CREDITS
I can’t stress this enough. If you are a Marvel fan, then you know to always stay till the end of the credits because there is always a special clip at the end. Since Big Hero 6 is based off of a Marvel comic they have stayed true to tradition and this movie has a special scene at the very end. So be sure to stay till the last credit rolls.
5. Get to the theater before the movie starts.
I know that some people like to skip the previews but you won’t want to do that when you see Big Hero 6. Disney does something special with all of their movies as well with the special animated shorts that play before each movie. Feast is the animated short for Big Hero 6 and it is probably my favorite short ever. It’s so cute, sweet and again bring the tissues for this one as well.
6. The visual graphics are incredible.
Big Hero 6 is set in the imaginary world of SanFranokoy which is a mixture of San Francisco and Toyko so right off the bat you will probably recognize some landmarks in the film. But beyond that the colors and detail in every shot of this movie are really outstanding. There is so much work that goes into making a animated film like Big Hero 6 and the film-makers really outdid themselves with this one. If you have the option I would really recommend seeing the movie in 3-D.
7. Be Prepared to Talk with Your Kids After the Movie
Big Hero 6 brings up some issues that are a great starting point for talking with your kids. These issues will include things such as death, doing the right thing, and being a good friend. I would recommend taking this opportunity after the movie to discuss these topics with your children. Don’t worry the movie has some amazing positive messages.
Now you have seen the 7 Things You Should know Before you see Big Hero 6 you are probably wondering what I thought about the movie. Well, honestly I loved it. I’m a big Marvel and Disney fan so the mixture of the two was really exciting for me. I am itching to take my kids to see the movie this weekend, I know they are going to absolutely love it.
The Big Hero 6 Clip below is probably one of my favorites because it highlights the movie in about 2 minutes. Check it out and you’ll see exactly why you should go see Big Hero 6 this weekend. Enjoy.
